The annual Harradine cup took place on Friday 2nd November and as usual the support for this event was excellent as a full field teed it up early in the morning ready to take on the superbly conditioned Championship course. Peter Harradine and Harradine Golf, who designed and built Al Hamra back in 2007, once again kindly sponsored the event which meant that there were some fantastic prizes on offer along with a delicious BBQ to follow.
As the scores began to come PJ Marriott became the early club house leader with a fantastic round of 40 points, which put him in a great position and one hand on the Harradine Cup. That was until two groups later Annie Harris came in with nines of 24 and 23 points for an incomprehendable score of 47 points, which blew away the rest of the field by 7 shots and picked her up the title of 2012 Harradine Cup Champion.
This unfortunately left PJ to pick up the runner-up trophy after having hopes that no one would be able to match or beat his score. Third place, just 1 shot behind PJ and 8 shots behind Annie was Al Hamra member Clive Rawlings with an also great score of 39 points. The competition also saw 4 Nearest the Pin events which were collected by Elton Swartz on Hole 4, Fred Watts on Hole 7, Clive Rawlings on Hole 12 and Paul Sillifant on Hole 15. Al Hamra Golf Club would like to give a big thanks to Peter Harradine, Harradine Golf and Orient Irrigation for their support again in making the Harradine Cup a popular and successful event.
